Barcöde

Barcöde is an all around good time.

We arrived around 11:15 and it was already packed. Despite how busy it was, we got in and had our drinks in under 15 minutes. The doorman was polite. The bartender was quick and the drinks are reasonably priced. An average six ounce rail drink costs $8. This seems to be the normal size and price at lounges.

Music can make or break a night out. Barcöde’s DJ was awesome. He played a mix of House/Pop that was easy to dance to. Not many people were dancing, even though there was a lot of space. Barcode is large inside and has a good size patio with heaters.

Ladies be warned, the floor is slick. In five inch heels, I felt like I was risking my life if my pace exceeded a sultry saunter. Minus that, it was well decorated and had a good layout. The crowd was generally attractive. Most people were dressed in casual lounge wear. In other words, the ladies wore dresses or jeans and a flashy top. The men wore nice jeans and dress shirts or designer t-shirts.

The highlight of the night actually occurred in the women’s bathroom. It has nothing to do with the bar, other than a caution when entering the bathroom stalls, but I was in tears I was laughing so hard. The line was long, but it was moving----until this slightly inebriated girl locked herself in the smoked glass stall. There are very clear instructions on the door explaining how to lock and unlock it. You have to be sober enough to read them though. Pull and turn right to lock. Pull and turn left to unlock. Don’t push. She was pushing and pushing and screaming. The poor bathroom attendant was trying to help her, but she was wild with fear. It was like watching a trapped animal. Since the doors are glass, I could see her hands pounding on the door, plus she was hitting it so hard it was gaping and I thought she might stick her nose in the crack like my dog when I won’t let her outside. Long story short, she did get out. She cursed and made nasty gestures at the poor attendant and I was thoroughly amused.

Head to Barcöde. You won't regret it.
